Privacy Policy

Last updated: 17 October 2026

BarDeck keeps your buttons and settings on your own Mac. There is no account, no analytics and no tracking, and I, the developer, do not collect information about you or how you use the app.

Who this is from

BarDeck is made by Steven Muir, an independent developer.

What stays on your Mac

What the app looks at, on your Mac only

None of this leaves your Mac.

Permissions

If you use the press keys or paste text buttons, macOS will ask you to allow Accessibility access. The New Folder button asks to control Finder (Automation). BarDeck uses these only to carry out the button you pressed.

Updates

BarDeck checks for new versions by fetching a small file from this website. Like any web request, it is visible to the site’s host (this site is hosted by GitHub Pages) as an ordinary request, including your IP address and the app’s name and version. BarDeck sends no personal information and no list of your apps or settings.

Buying

Payments are handled by Payhip, not by me. I can see the details of an order, such as your name and email address, in my Payhip account so that I can send your licence key and answer support questions. See Payhip’s own privacy policy for how it handles your payment details.

What I do not collect

Deleting your data

Delete the app and the ~/.config/bardeck folder to remove everything it keeps on your Mac.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date above.
