Daykeep is a private journal. Your entries, photos and journals stay on your devices and in your own iCloud account. There is no Daykeep account, and I — the developer — never see, collect or store your journal. There are no adverts and no tracking.
Daykeep is made by Steven Muir, an independent developer. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information.
Everything you write and every photo you add is stored on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud account so it can sync between your iPhone, iPad and Mac. This data is yours. It is not sent to me or to any third party, and I have no way to read it.
Daykeep asks permission to access your photo library only so that you can choose photos to add to an entry. It keeps a copy of the photos you add inside your journal; it does not scan, upload or otherwise use the rest of your library.
If you are signed in to iCloud, Daykeep uses Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) to sync your journals between your own devices, stored in your private iCloud database. This sync is between you and Apple's iCloud service and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. I do not operate any server involved in this, and I cannot access the contents of your private iCloud data. You can turn iCloud off for Daykeep in your device settings, in which case your journal stays only on that device.
If you choose to add a place to an entry or photo, Daykeep may use your device's location or a photo's embedded location to suggest a place name. This is optional, is used only to fill in that entry, and is stored only inside your own journal. It is never sent to me.
If you add weather to an entry, Daykeep may request current conditions for that location using Apple's WeatherKit service, and stores only a short text summary (such as “Sunny 18°”) in your entry. This request is handled by Apple; weather data is provided by Apple's WeatherKit and is subject to Apple's terms.
Daykeep is free to use, with an optional one-off Daykeep Plus purchase. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. I do not receive or store your name, card details or any other payment information — only Apple's confirmation of whether the purchase was made.
You can back up any journal to a file you control at any time, and delete a journal or the whole app whenever you wish. Deleting the app removes its data from that device; data in your iCloud is removed according to Apple's iCloud handling.
Daykeep is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, children included.
