Privacy Policy

Last updated: 15 October 2026

Home Timeline reads your Apple Home on your own device so it can show you what your automations will do. That information stays on your device. There is no account, and I, the developer, never see, collect or store anything about you or your home.

Who this is from

Home Timeline is made by Steven Muir, an independent developer. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information.

Your Home

When you choose Connect to my Home, the app asks for access to your Home through Apple’s HomeKit. It reads the names of your accessories, scenes and automations, and their current state, so it can list them and work out what will happen next. This stays on your device.

The app only changes something in your home when you press a button to do it, such as Run, Turn on or Turn off. HomeKit data is never used for advertising, never sold and never shared.

Location

Some automations run around sunrise or sunset. If you tap Use my current location, the app asks for your location once to work out those times. The coordinates are saved only on your device (and used by the widgets on your device). You can instead type coordinates yourself, and the app works without location access.

Floor plans

If you add a floor plan, the picture (or the sample layout you chose) and the positions of your accessories on it are saved on your device. If you use iCloud, they sync between your own devices through your private iCloud storage (Apple’s iCloud Drive and key-value storage, in the app’s own hidden folder) so each device shows the same plan. They are never sent to me. When you choose a photo, the app only receives the one picture you pick; it does not read the rest of your photo library.

Widgets

The Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets use a small copy of your automation list that the app saves on your device so the widget can display it. It is not sent anywhere.

What I do not collect

The sample home

The built-in sample home is made-up data stored inside the app. It never touches your accessories.

Deleting your data

Everything the app keeps is on your device. Deleting the app removes it.

Children’s privacy

Home Timeline is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date above.
